Nomad has introduced its latest innovation in charging technology—a universal cable designed specifically for the Apple Watch. What sets this cable apart from traditional charging solutions is its dual functionality. It combines an integrated fast-charging dock for the Apple Watch with two USB-C ports, all within a 1.5-meter-long cable.
This cable allows users to charge an Apple Watch and another device, such as an iPhone or iPad, simultaneously. Power distribution is handled through USB-C Power Delivery (PD) with a total output of 100 watts. Out of this, 8 watts are allocated for the Apple Watch, while the remaining 92 watts can be used to charge a second device. This power capacity is sufficient to charge even a 16-inch MacBook Pro, provided a compatible power adapter is used.
The primary focus of this cable is charging efficiency rather than data transfer, as it supports only USB 2.0 speeds. To ensure durability, Nomad has designed it with a double-braided Kevlar outer layer and galvanized metal connectors. Additionally, an integrated silicone strap helps keep the cable neatly stored, making it particularly convenient for travel.
As for the price, it is, to say the least, notable. Nomad has priced the cable at €100, a cost at which most consumers might expect to purchase additional accessories—perhaps a charger, cable, and even a power bank. Whether the premium design and dual-device functionality justify the price remains a question for potential buyers.
