The talks on the opening of checkpoint Kazbegi - Upper Larsi on the Georgian-Russian border will take place in late December. This is the only legitimate checkpoint at the land border between the two countries. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Grigory Karasin announced about upcoming talks, while stating that "behaviour of official Tbilisi regarding this issue is not very consistent". But according to the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Nino Kalandadze, if Moscow is ready to open a border checkpoint, then the Russian side should take effective measures, since the Georgian side has already expressed its willingness to agree on opening of the border, and now "it is up to negotiations ".
