Russia stands for normalization of relations with Georgia, but cannot reverse its decision to recognize the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a press conference in Moscow.
"Russia cannot change its decision on the recognition of the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia. We cannot do that by definition, and Georgia cannot agree to recognize them as independent countries. I cannot imagine what can be done here. We really want to normalize relations with Georgia, though in terms of economy, to say bluntly, Georgia is more interested in this than we are, "- he said.
