The occupation bases in the occupied territories of Georgia are to be inspected by Chief Commander of the Russian Ground Forces Colonel-General Vladimir Chirkin. His trip to the colonies is scheduled for July 10-13.
In Tskhinvali, Chirkin will check the course of combat training, as well as personnel issues, state of weapons, military equipment and material support.
According to representative of the department of press service and information of the Russian Defence Ministry Colonel Nikolai Donyushkin for ground forces, Chirkin’s trip to the occupied territories is dedicated to "the 20th anniversary of the introduction of Russian troops into the zone of Georgian-Ossetian conflict to participate in peacekeeping operations”, or in short - the 20th anniversary of the occupation of the territory of Georgia.
