The occupation forces in Abkhazia continue to receive modern military equipment and to upgrade arms. According to the press service of the Southern Military District of the Defence Ministry, more than 10 modern command and staff vehicles R-149MA1 (UKSHM R-149MA1) on the base of armoured vehicle BTR-80 were delivered in May.

According to the report, these vehicles are equipped with unique navigation equipment "Azimuth", which provides automatic determination of the coordinates of its location at any point of the route.

Press Service of the Southern Federal District also noted that equipping of divisions of the Russian military base in Abkhazia with latest examples of special equipment will be continued during 2012.
